1970’s
- Monne Nidiffer joins INTERSTATE as a college graduate associate and learns the business
- Mike Nidiffer, Monne’s younger brother, joins INTERSTATE and becomes the youngest Licensed Broker in the State of Tennessee
1980’s
- Monne and Mike purchase INTERSTATE from Simon Johnson
- Susan Lloyd office manager begins work with MAI Melvin Legg. His office eventually merged into INTERSTATE Realty’s office
- Mike becomes an appraiser holding the RM and SRA designation while working under MAI Melvin Legg
1990’s

- Mike and Brent form INTERSTATE Development for the purpose of re-developing Mike’s father’s former business - Appalachian Athletic House a 10,000 sq ft sporting goods store
- Shoppes at Roan, a 30,000 sf multi-tenant retail center in Johnson City, TN anchored by CVS opens – INTERSTATE’s 1st multi-tenant development. Still owned by INTERSTATE today

- Bill Ward joins INTERSTATE as an Affiliate Broker and brings a wealth of experience from his former days as a bank President

- Greg Mueller, IT coordinator is hired. Greg also becomes Senior Property Manager.
- Tim Devault, CPA , Accounting Manager, is hired to take over for Pati Roswall who had been doing the accounting and bookkeeping since INTERSTATE Development inception.

- Merritt Creek Farm Phase 1 (Barboursville, WV) ( 500,000 sq ft) construction is underway – INTERSTATE’s 2nd Target Center. 1st Target and Starbucks in the State of WV. Featured on the Dave Letterman show
- Phase 2 Merritt Creek Farm is built adding Home Depot (100,000 sq ft) and shoppes (40,000 sq ft)
- INTERSTATE develops 2nd Food City in Damascus, VA
- INTERSTATE builds 3rd Food City in Blountville, TN
